Chalkware pieces like this one were once commonly given as prizes at fairs and carnivals between the 1920s and 1950s. They are made out of plaster of Paris and crudely painted in kitschy colours and, believe it or not, are quite collectable today! Despite this fellow’s decidedly grumpy, squished up face, he exudes a certain creepy-cute vibe. He has a couple of small chips and little holes which were caused by air bubbles in the plaster when he was poured.
