This unusual metal clip was given out as a promotional item to customers of stationers, M. Myers & Son with a good luck message. It is dated 1870 and features a horseshoe, a symbol associated with good luck, topped with a jockey hat. Made in England of finely pressed brass, the clip is in wonderful condition for its 156 years.
