A superb antique miniature portrait of a young girl surrounded by velvet and encased in maroon leather. The satin-lined inner lid is marked Adolphe Beau, 285 Regent St London. Adolphe Beau (1828-1910) was a French photographer who came to London in 1851 and had his studio in Regent St between the dates of 1864 and 1878. This portrait is a little watercolour-colourised photograph by him, taken up to 157 years ago! Some amazing history!
